Have questions?
Everything homeowners in New Jersey and the Tri-State area ask us before they get Happy's Lighting.
Can I control the lights from anywhere?
Yes. The app is cloud based, so you can control your lights from anywhere with an internet connection – at home, at work or on vacation.
Is Happy's Lighting UL Listed?
Yes. Happy's lights and controllers are UL Certified and ETL Listed for permanent exterior use.
Can you do warm white?
Yes. You can choose or create your own color temperature to match existing fixtures. Presets are available for 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K and 5000K, and you can dial in anything in between.
What is the cost per foot?
Most Happy's eave lighting installs run roughly $25–35 per linear foot installed, plus $650–850 for the controller. The price per foot depends on roof height and complexity, soffit type, attic access and the time of year. We give every homeowner a fixed, written quote after a free on-site measurement – request yours here.
How many different colors and patterns can you do?
The lights are RGB and produce over 16 million colors. You can build your own patterns light by light, pick from 20 movements and effects, or choose from more than 100 preset patterns – the possibilities are limitless.
How much electricity does the system use?
Very little. At full bright white each light uses less than one watt, and the controller pulls about 1.1 amps per 100 feet of lights. Running them nightly costs a few dollars a month.
Can I make my own patterns?
Yes. The lights are individually addressable, so you choose exactly which lights are on and what color each one is (over 16 million options). There are also 100+ preset patterns to start from.
Can I save timers?
Yes. Save multiple nightly and weekly timers plus calendar events for holidays and special occasions. Schedules can follow local sunset-to-sunrise times automatically.
Can separate areas of my house have different lighting schemes?
Yes. Zoning lets you turn on only certain sections of lights, or run different patterns on different parts of your home at the same time – warm white in front, team colors on the back patio.
How long does installation take?
Our crews average around 150 feet per day, so most homes are finished in one to two days. We confirm the schedule when you book.
What sort of maintenance is required?
Practically none. From time to time a single light may need replacing. The system is low voltage so homeowners can swap a light themselves, or we will come out and do it for you.
Where are the controller and power supplies installed?
Indoors – typically on a wall in your garage or basement, safe from the weather, plugged into a standard outlet. One controller can power up to about 300 ft depending on wiring. From there we run low-voltage wire to the soffit of the first roof section; no exterior boxes or extra outlets.
Do I have to upgrade my hardware to get new features?
No. App and controller features are delivered through free app updates and controller firmware updates. Systems installed years ago keep gaining new patterns and features.
How does payment work?
A deposit of half the quoted price reserves your installation date; the balance is due on completion. Ask us about financing options when you request your quote.
What is the warranty?
Eave (track) lighting carries a 5-year parts warranty and a 1-year labor warranty on our installation. Patio, landscape and Saber Series fixtures carry a 3-year parts warranty and 1 year of labor.
How long does the system last?
Happy's Lighting is a robust, outdoor-rated LED system built for Northeast winters and humid summers (IP67, −40 °C to 55 °C). Systems installed in 2016 are still running today.
Will my HOA allow permanent lights?
In almost every case, yes. The color-matched track sits under the eave behind the trim and is nearly invisible during the day, and the warm-white accent setting looks like traditional soffit lighting. We provide an HOA fact sheet on request – see For HOAs.
Which areas do you serve?
We install throughout New Jersey and across the region: New York (NYC, Long Island, Westchester and the Hudson Valley), eastern Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland and Washington, DC. See our service areas.
